Sep. 22nd, 2006 06:11 pmSweet. I was climbing at the HPER today again with my friends and I was about 25 feet up when this enormous crazy alarm went off. We didn't know if it was a tornado alarm or fire alarm as Washington Co. was under tornado watch at the time. So it of course startles me and everyone else and I go flailing off the wall and get dropped down with everyone else who was climbing and we're trying to rip the knots free and get the harnesses off and helmets and caribiners and shoes all while being hurried out the door. Turns out it was a fire alarm but in the middle of a massive, massive storm. Which meant the entirety of the enormous HPER complex pouring into the streets and parking lots. People in bathing suits, workout wear, towels....it was awesome. We got soaked.
In other news, I made it to the top of a route. What this means is they mark routes where you have to get to the top only using certain holds, which means a lot of bracing yourself with the wall. My fingernails are shot.
